I would like roles to mean something.
Right now, because of all the people that have crap tons of SP, you have everyone essentially playing Omni Soldier, which in itself used to be an actual role early on.
I would like to see more sacrifice being made and choices meaning more.
Whether it be getting a greater benefit for sticking with one race over another (like those that have all the suits of one race), or role (like those that have all the races of Assault, Sentinel, Scout etc).
Currently there is only sacrifice when it comes to fitting a suit, and even then sometimes not enough. I think that perhaps the skill tree should be set up such that you are making sacrifices somewhere while not completely.
What if skills themselves varied in cost, with costs for skills increasing for races, roles, and weaponry such that purchasing one skill might increase the SP required for another skill? This is not unlike what happens with Faction Rankings in FW, only I would like to see it more pronounced.
In FW, if you fight for the Amarr, you lose your ranking (if you had any) with Minmatar. The loss is low enough that you could still hypothetically get to level 10 on all 4, or at least relatively close (I may be mistaken, so correct me if I am wrong). I would like to see a big enough sacrifice that if you wanted to be both a vehicle user AND AV, and wanted to take both to proto, it would take a much greater sacrifice than before, if it would be possible at all.
The details might be complicated to set up, but I think it would still have some room for variety while making choices still matter, regardless of any possible respec.
Thoughts?

It's like you're forcing scouts and sentinels into the maps where objectives are way out in the open, while also forcing medium suits into tiny mazes. I don't see a problem with changing suits depending on the circumstances. It's not that easy anyway. It's already a huge investment to get a specialized suit to level five. I am not saying that choosing one role means playing only that role, just that there has to be SOME sacrifice, even if it is additional SP, and not for all roles, but for things that are counter than the skill you initially have.
@Breakin
Omni Soldier was indeed a legit play style early on (ask IWS, the most well known Omni).
I am at around 30 million SP, and can play several roles. And I think that it makes more sense to have multiple sentinels than it does for people to just run around getting FotM suits with no regard to roles or anything.
Even if there were some other way to make choosing a role and/or faction more meaningful. Right now it is all over the place.

You are correct, the gains in standing is larger than the loss of standing in the enemy faction, so if you cycle all 4 you can have a net gain in loyalty In all 4. However since you're also decreasing your standing at the same time, it is innately slower to do all factions at once, and it is much faster to focus on just 1 faction. So yes you can do all 4, but you're encouraged to do just 1-2 factions because it's faster. That is essentially what I want for roles and/or races as well with regards to skills/suits.
To be able to go beyond them, but to be encouraged to stick with them.
